Trail Blazers: Trail Blazers vs Nets Preview
"They had a three-game winning streak snapped by a 91-87 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. New Jersey rallied from a 17-point deficit to tie the game, but never led as Kobe Bryant hit a pair of late jumpers, including the game-clinching 3-pointer with 6.8 seconds left."

Oregon Live: Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Jersey Nets game preview
"Wallace, the former Blazer, had a performance for the ages on Friday, finishing with 24 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, and six steals. He is the first player to register those numbers since Charles Barkley had 41, 22, 5 and 6 against Portland in 1988. In nine games since being traded from Portland, Wallace is averaging 15.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists while playing 38 minutes. In Portland he averaged 13.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 36 minutes"

Blazersedge: New Jersey Nets vs. Portland Trail Blazers Preview
"New Jersey, meanwhile, has been piling on wins...four in the last week, albeit against the weaker sisters of the league. They seem to alternate between 100-point, defense-free score-fests and 85-point, grind-it-out slug-fests, until recently losing either way. They're happy with Deron Williams' 22 point, 9 assist average, not so much with his 41% shooting (down from 46% the year prior and a career low). They love new addition (and former Blazer) Gerald Wallace but they're hamstrung by season-long injuries to Brook Lopez. Kris Humphries, Jordan Farmar, and Anthony Morrow are pretty good. Gerald Green is having a nice enough year and he's on a real hot streak right now. Everybody else is an afterthought. They're thin, a little mismatched, ill-defined."

Blazersedge: Transcript: Joel Przybilla Endorses Kaleb Canales For Head Coaching Position On Blazers Courtside
"Definitely. I'm definitely comfortable playing for him. He's learning, this is his first head coaching job. The progress he's made in just a few weeks is so significant. Talking in front of the guys, the referees, whatever it may be. He's made such strides in a few weeks. I'm excited for the future for him. He has great potential to be a great coach for many years."

NBA: After Marshall, thin point guard class heavy on questions
"He's not a great athlete," a Pacific Division exec says of Marshall, "but damn, I haven't seen anybody pass it like that in a long time. And obviously he makes that team go. His game is not going to change by going back, and it's not going to change his shooting and it's not going to change his athleticism."

Ball Don't Lie: Ray Allen might become Boston’s latest famous sixth man
"This, of course, makes no sense. Even if Allen is the latest in a long line of prominent Boston sixth men, dating back to the days of Frank Ramsey, and including the likes of John Havlicek, Kevin McHale, and Bill Walton. Not Brett Szabo."

Ball Don't Lie: Tom Thibodeau, weirdly, can’t get a contract extension
"The Bulls are loaded. They make heaps of money and have never paid the luxury tax. The squad will be on the hook for four eight-figure deals soon enough, but they've also kept the payroll pretty tight in the 14 years since Michael Jordan's 1997-98 contract expired. The team made Jackson's life borderline untenable, it messed with Scott Skiles' head after he led a team full of rookies and castaways to an overachieving 47 wins in 2005, and the organization has no excuse for letting Thibodeau dangle like this."

Ball Don't Lie: Lebanese basketball player scores 113 points in a single FIBA game
"As the story goes — and, to be honest, we're having a tough time processing it ourselves, especially without video of some made shots — the 27-year-old Akkari, who had averaged just 7.6 points per game in the 23 games he'd previously played for Tripoli basketball club Mouttahed this season, scored 113 points on 40-of-69 shooting in a 173-141 win against Bejjeh in a Lebanese Division A League game. That total, which reportedly includes a ludicrous 32-of-59 mark from 3-point land, would FAR outstrip every single-game mark in the history of FIBA competition."

The Basketball Jones: Video: Greg Anthony loses Book-off Payoff, dresses as 1986 Ernie Johnson
"I don’t know about you guys, but I was not as ready for some grape smugglin’ as I thought I was. Killer Jordan Vs, Homage t-shirt and high school gym shorts though. Very 1980s."

DIME: Daily Fantasy Basketball Diagnosis: 4.4
"LeBron James put up 41 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, a block and a three-pointer last night in a start at shooting guard for the Heat. He shot 60 percent (15-25) from the floor and 77 percent (10-13) from the free-throw line, and had four turnovers. James’ recent slip in production dropped him to No. 2 overall in fantasy basketball, but he’s still a monster."

    SLAM: Post Up: Two Kings
"We’ll get to the Phoenix win in a moment, but first thing’s first—to call DeMarcus Cousins anything but a certified beast is a crime at this point. DMC had his way with the Suns’ frontline, racking up a career-high 41 points on 16-25 shooting and 12 rebounds. He would have had more like 45 if not for 5 missed free throws. It’s a wonder the Kings didn’t win this game, considering that every time I flipped over Cousins was doing work down low with ease. Then again, he didn’t get much help. Isaiah Thomas had 25 points, but the 3 remaining Kings starters (yes, that includes Tyreke Evans) scored a combined 10 points on the night. As for Phoenix, Marcin Gortat doubled up with 20 points and 10 boards, Steve Nash dished out 12 assists to go with his 18 points as the Suns got to within 1.5 games of Houston for the 8-seed in the West."

SLAM via ESPN: Steve Nash Looking to Sign a Three-Year Deal This Summer
“With the Phoenix Suns clinging to their playoff lives in the Western Conference, star point guard Steve Nash insists his back feels ‘the best it’s felt in a decade.’ Nash said he intends to ‘sign for three more years this summer’ and play beyond his 40th birthday when he either inks a new deal to stay with the Suns or finds a new team via free agency."

SLAM via AP: Seattle Mariners Don’t Want an NBA Arena in Same Neighborhood
“The Mariners sent a formal letter to the city of Seattle and King County officials on Tuesday opposing the idea of a new multipurpose arena in the same neighborhood as the Mariners home of Safeco Field. The letter, signed by Mariners chairman Howard Lincoln, cited concerns about traffic and scheduling of events taking place in an area that already features Safeco Field and CenturyLink Field — the home to the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders."

ESPN: If the season ended today, who's first on your MVP ballot?
"Kevin Durant. It's not the scoring. We've seen that before. It's the passing and the rebounding and the defense. Most of all, it's the winning."
