...Jon Brockman in this summer's draft. Go DaWgs! K.P. might have to do some arm twistin' to get Brockman, but we know he's good at that.

I think we need to see where we fall first. I honestly don't think this is going to be a fruitful draft because the guys we want are the guys we have. If Batum would have been the guy we were expecting and needed a couple years to really develop, then you would see more weight on this draft, but that isn't the case. So I think right now the big thing is to get Martel healthy and get some cap space. You want to talk about trying to get a veteran, but Blake and Joel are veterans. Heck even Roy is a veteran now. So I think this summer really needs to be about clearing up that D-Miles salary and getting Martel healthy.

    Aaron Baynes > Jon Brockman

And I don't see either of them being anything in the NBA. We don't want brockman, we already have Randolf riding the bench

AS AN ASU STUDENT, IVE HAD THE CHANCE TO WATCH BROCKMAN QUITE A BIT. I LIKE THE KID ALOT, I THINK HE WOULD ADD TO OUR TEAM BECAUSE HE IS VERY PHYSICAL AND STRONG. HE ISNT INTIMIDATED AND IS A FIERCE COMPETITOR.

I dont know if that'll work but it's a video talking to a guy saying how great brockman is doing in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament this weekend. So I'll retract that last comment I made. If this doesn't work you can find the video at http://www.nba.com/video/nbatv/ it's called D League Scouting

Our #1 target in the draft should be a backup PF who can hustle and grab rebounds. At the #24 spot (our first selection) I have no idea what will be available, but I also know we have the number 32, 38, and 46 picks. I'd imagine there is some way to package those picks and move up into say the #17 spot. In that area I'm sure KP can find a good young backup 4.

I am not sure what the age rules are for international players, but I was really impressed by Seraphin from France at the Nike Hoop Summit. He is a shot blocking/rebounding machine. If he can get drafted, and he is available at 24, I actually would go after him. He has a HUGE upside. Then you could have the Spanish Armada and the French Revolution all in one Rip City.

Yeah, I'd agree that if we're going to go any younger this summer and try and improve ourselves through the draft, it needs to be a solid and scrappy backup for LaMarcus at the 4. Even if we do just keep our #24 pick, I'm sure we can get somebody who can fill that role. Heck, even Hansbrough, who plays with all heart and can score and rebound, wouldn't be a bad choice (though by no means do I think he's the complete answer for us, just that he'll likely be available there.)

I ultimately think capspace is the thing to go for. I wouldn't mind NOT picking in the first round. I think it sends a strong message that we want to see what the team we have can do before we go moving players away.

VON WAFER.... He is an unrestricted free agent this year and throughout this series with us he has been going off, I really see him as a young up and comer in the league and I love his game, I wish we would have never gotten rid of him....

kirk hinrich... He's not available anytime soon, but this guy can shoot, pass, and best of all he's a really good defender. I think he would be a perfect asset to this team if we can make some trades to pick him up. He would definitely be helping us now guarding brooks/lowry.

Not Wafer. The reason he sat for us last year was because he had an attitude with Nate. The dude is a punk and would tear up this locker room. He needs a Ruben Patterson right hook to the cheek.
Kirk, I would be OK with, but I don't think we need him. I am okay with this team marinating knowing we have Martel coming back. That means TO and Batum fight over that back up small position. That's a battle that would be interesting to watch next training camp. Either way, I say it again, LET WAFER GO!!! We don't want him, he's an @##!

Ya i read some stuff on wikipedia about him having an attitude with coaches and things, I dunno he looks like such a good player and he's so young, I think he's gonna do a lot in his career. But if we're talking about drafting people, maybe if management made some moves and we got Dejuan Blair. I looked at some mock drafts and we'd have to move up about 9 spots to about the 15th pick, that would be pretty legit if you ask me.

I just don't like the idea of drafting someone to actualy play in the next two seasons. I say you trade down and take some long term projects. I just don't see us improving by drafting anyone for this year. It would just make a mess of things. The most important thing for Portland is to tell the team that we have confidence in them this year. Without that extra pressure, they will be able to play their game. I think looking over their shoulders waiting for the trigger to get pulled distracts them from playing their game. That is why they played so much better after the trade deadline passed. I think Pritchard needs to keep the direction he is going, He knows where th money players are deep in the draft.

I think PG Curtis Jerrels of Baylor could be a huge addition and a steal early in the 2nd round. This kid spent 4 years at Baylor setting all kind of records, and he plays a NBA 1 on 1 Style most of the time. He has a solid outside shot, but the most impressive thing would have to be his driving ability. He has one of the quickest first steps I've seen and can get by pretty much anyone. The only problem is his defense as he is only 6'1" but I think with his quickness he could overcome the height problem. He could have a big career in the NBA.

yeah, again, with Bayless in the position he is in, I don't think we need another young PG. We still don't know what Koponen can do. I think we should be looking overseas for draft eligible guys that are long term projects that we can stash overseas or place deep on the bench for a year or two. A sort of Travis Outlaw type investment on the future of the team. I think that getting younger might not be a bad idea. What you are doing is building for the longevity of the team. The team as is, will be a conteder in the next two years maybe even next year. So why not invest in the long term like trading down for cash considerations and drafting projects so we can keep the stars we have long term. The big 3 are going to all be All-Stars and it is going to be really expensive to keep them together long-term. Two of the three are restricted-free agents at the end of next season. Outlaw is B-Roy's best friend. If Outlaw is gone then it might be harder to keep this group together. He also is a free agent that same year along with Blake and Przybilla. Keep your eyes on the prize you guys, in our case, a Portland Dynasty. Lets make history!

The only move I would want to see us do is something to bring in Deron Williams. With him starting and Steve as the back up it would be about the best we could ask for, and its already near that already. Dont get me wrong, im comfortable with Steve as our starter for the next few years, but as long as either Sergio steps up his game or we get a better back up PG. I dont see us needing to get a young scrappy guy at the four when we slide TO there and that works so well for us, and channing can come in and play a solid spell when needed, tho i dont see him staying around with so few minutes. We'll welcome him back to the city when he retires. But i am also a big kopenen fan and am looking forward to seeing him again in summer league. But all in all I would be happy if this off season turned out as eventful as the trade deadline for us. Go Blazers!! Lets bring it back home for game 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think will be needing a true backup power forward, although I don't want them to be stealing many minutes. I don't see Frye wanting to come back after this season. He has the chance to get in the rotation for a team and I'm sure he will take it. I think we should take a PF with our first pick and move up if we have to to get someone good. I'm sure there's a lot of teams that would like a few more second round draft picks that have a higher pick than us.

I'm also very curious what it would take to get Koponen over here. I think he got a five year contract last summer and we would probably have to buy it out, I don't think we would do that cause we don't need him right now. If we could bring him over here for cheap this summer we could put him on our d-league team and see how he develops. If it's not cheap for this year we could wait one or two years til those big contracts are off the books then bring him over (if we still needed him).

Were extremely deep right now and it's going to be hard to keep everyone satisfied over the next few years, although I think it will be possible. We have 3 (4 including Koponen) point gaurds that are worthy of minutes, although Sergio is debatable, 2 shooting guards, 3 small forwards, 1 power forward, 2 centers. Thats a 10-11 man rotation that is deadly. I think it's safe to say we'll be in contention starting next year. I don't think it even matters what we do this summer, KP already got all the pieces, it's just going to be a matter of putting them in place.

Does anyone know whats wrong with Bayless??? When he came out of Arizona I thought he was going to be a heck of a point guard in the league, but it seems like he never really made any noise. Being from Texas and a new fan I didnt get to see many blazer games this year, so I'm kind of out of the loop =) I can see the need for a back up PF though...it probably is the biggest need for this team, but as much as he does for this young team now for some reason I just don't feel like Blakes the guy to get us a ring. I would glady take Williams from Utah in a heartbeat, but if Blakes what we got then I'll support him till the end.

Nothing is wrong with him, he was MVP of the Summer League, he had a huge game against New Jersey earlier this year. I think most of it is just that Sergio has such good chemistry with Rudy and Bayless just hasn't found a spot where he fits in the line-up. I think with a summer of practice he will return the player in the best shape, and the most improved Blazer if not NBA most improved. Knowing his work ethic and the talent he already has, he just needs to know the system a little better.

Sure, brockmans a good player, But where would he fit in our system? we are full at the 4 and 5 already. Matter of fact we are full at every position. I really cant think of a player that would benefit us for next season. This is the first time since being a fan (15 yrs) that I think it would be best to toss our name out of the draft. Blazers are playing the best ball since 2000 and have better team cohesion since the drexler, porter era. I hope KP sees this and maintains this roster for years to come. GO BLAZERS!!

I really don't know what we need in the draft. I like a guy like DeJuan Blair but we're so crowded at the forward spot. I agree we need to improve at PG but I don't think the draft is the place to do that. I feel like Bayless is going to be our future PG, and the way we could improve there is to sign someone like Andre Miller as an upgrade over Blakey as the "veteran" PG, and trade Sergio in some kind of a deal, maybe along with a couple of the four second-round picks we have.

I'll just trust KP, as he's proven by now he knows what he's doing. Whatever he does will probably be the right thing.

Nathan3737 said the Blazers should try and bring in Deron Williams from the Jazz. OK...

[A] There's no way that Utahonians are gonna let go of their Brandon Roy. The Jazz know that he is a key piece to build a great team around, and he has many years of incredible basketball yet to play.

[B] The Blazers have been in the red, as far as the salary cap goes, for many years now. This next season will be interesting because Brandon and Lamarcus need nice, juicy, well deserved contracts. I dunno if K.P. wants to cross the salary cap threshold, by signing another big time baller.

[C] The NBA itself, probably wouldn't let D. Williams play alongside B-Roy, because there wouldn't be a team in the league, that could stop a backcourt of those two guys. If Deron came to Portland, we might see our first 82-0 team, and I don't think the NBA wants that, 'cause we're not the Lakers or Celtics.

Common KP Go after Ricky Rubio!!!!
