Antonio Harvey, guest hosting on the Bald Faced Truth this afternoon, posed the following questions to listeners.  Blazer fans, what has Rudy done to YOU personally?  Why are you so angry with him?

Gang, I know you all have takes on this.  I know I have TWO!  I almost felt as though Tone was taking a defensive stance on Rudy's behalf.  I believe Blazer fans are some of the most knowledgeable and intelligent fans in the league, so let's lend proof to this with our responses...

Rudy Fernandez has voluntarily damaged the "product" for which I have financially invested in.  Period.  Ticket sales occured before his damaging statements were made on media day.  He was an asset that had value around the league before media day.  Fernandez single-handedly has DEVALUED the product already purchased.  I work very hard for the money that was spent on said product.  This is why I am angry Tone.

Additionally, my son has now had to have me explain to him why it's okay to break a contract after signing.  Ofcourse, honesty always being the best policy...I explained to him that IT'S NOT.  Don't enter into ANY contract without first doing your due diligence with research.  The NBA has not changed Rudy, you have...midway thru a contract-a legally binding contract

In Rudy's defense, you cant blame him for being homesick and possibly being physically hurt after the hard foul by Ariza. Now, he shouldn't have come out and publicly complain the way he did. BUT we dont know how much of that was his agent, and not him actually speaking out. I do agree that Blazer fans are very knowledgable, but last time we jumped to conclusion about a blazer (Kevin Pritchard), turns out we were very wrong about if the front office made the right or wrong decision.
The front office will do the right thing with Rudy, and the whole team can move on.

    Thanks

Rudy is actually a really nice guy, imo. He has never done anything to me personally. You can't blame a guy for missing home, and he could really have life long back problems, thanks to Ariza. But, this is not a daycare. The back did not appear to keep him out of the world games.
Do your job and man up. Agree 100 about the example this sets for kids BDawg. Rudy is only hurting his own value.
My issue is that if he doesnt want to be here, get someone who does and quit wasting time. There are rings to be won, and until we see if Greg will ever play a full season, I'd like one more big for insurance.....

I am  angry at Rudy because I felt like in the play-offs last year, He undermined my team chances of winning and could have single handed lost the series for us. OK! I have no proof and there were others that could have very easily have been the blame; But, I feel his was intentionally dogged it to get attention from the media.

More then being angry, I just don't like anybody with his talent throwing a game because of emotional problems.

Great advice, maybe you should thank Rudy for giving you the opportunity to give said advice to your son. But... to be fair, Rudy has not broken his contract. Apparently he has been asking to be traded since Decemberish of last year. Here we are almost a year later and still no trade. Now we even have a new GM and he asked him and still no trade. He tried playing hardball and that failed so now he is reporting to camp. He didn't break his contract. If he really had been asking for a trade since last year, I can understand that he is frustrated, although he may not have handled it in the best way.

I think most fans take it personal that he asked to be traded, it's as if he has rejected us. Saying that publicly is kind of like saying I don't like you guys here! I think that's why most fans are mad at him, we take pride in our small town market, and it was like a slap in the face.

That being said, I do agree with Antonio though. To me it's just business and people shouldn't take it to heart, he's not rejecting us fans.

Since when do we need a reason to be upset with someone. But, since you want one Tone, how about we're upset for being deceived. Duped, bamboozled and hoodwinked into thinking we were getting an NBA player, when we actually inherited  Whine Valdez.

Bottom line, we're Blazer fans. The only thing we hate worse than losing, is losers. We're not particularly fond of quitters either. Why are we upset with Rudy? He quit on us. We cheered for him, embraced him, made him T-Shirts and he folded on us like a cheap lawn chair. Then has the audacity to say " i cant " play here. I need to be with my family. I miss mommy, where's my binky. We dont have time for this. Wesley, suit up!!

I hear you I hear you. But still, I think if PritchaRD REALLY JUST IGNORED HIS TRADE REQUEST AND NEVER EVEN TOLD pAUL aLLEN... (ok it's late i don't want to go back and retype all that... stupid caps lock!) I can see why Rudy is so upset with the politics of the NBA, but he definitely could have handled it better, I just don't know what other options he could have pursued. I don't blame him for not wanting to play in Nate's system either when he only  uses him as a spot up shooter and whenever he makes a mistake he gets yanked.

Man I need to take a typing class.

It all went to his head. No one wants him now so he's claiming to be home sick.  WOW! What a mess he's put himself in.  Somewhere he went wrong.  I was holding out to see what he did in training camp.  Well, looks like he chose to be an outcast!

A fan's love is conditional, as an NBa.com writer recently wrote, and we are in every sense of the word, fanatics. Rudy's actions through his agent (or lack of control over his agent, however you want to spin it), have caused this franchise's value to decline, by lowering the value of himself. It's not that we don't like Rudy, it's that were ready to "go to the mattresses" on this one, either he takes the first step in redeeming his worth, and we accept him back into the fold as fans, or he gets booed like he's playing in Philadelphia.

Personally I think it's been a learning process for Rudy, and as long as he continues to say the right things, and his teamates and coaches continue to say the right things, everything is gravy, I hope fans don't boo him tonight, but I woulnd't be shocked if they do.

Booing him would definetly not help in any way... Everyone keeps saying he isn't emotionally there so he isn't helping, what would getting booed at his own court do to him?  I think he defeinetly has handled things wrong and I thought the say thing that TomL said, that we as fans felt like he rejected us. That how I felt, I just thought how could someone not want to play for the Blazers, we are awesome. I think he definetly needs to step up and try and earn back our respect for him, but that may never happen.
As far as him possibly single handedly losing the playoffs for us, no way. I'll be the first to say that he didn't play to his full potential for most games, but who are we to say that its because he didn't care or whatever, he could have been having some off days, it happens. And no one seems to remeber the last game to phoenix when Rudy exploded and drilled every shot but then constantly got yanked after. He was the 2nd high scorer behind Webster, And some think he lost us the playoffs... Don't think so.
I hope we give him a chance to redeem himself, He showed up and isn't breaking his contract, If he want to leave when its fulfilled, then fine, we'll find someone to replace him

i just feel as if this whole rudy thing is getting out of hand in the sense that, you got people saying perhaps he was the reason the team didnt progress in the playoffs.
Now he's gonna bone out, and to me it looks like some fans may try to blame him for reasons to why the team is unsuccessful, maybe feel as he held them back.

And i dont think that people should feel that way. like countless times people say its not about just one guy, its about the team (*xcept for MJ and the bulls, apparently) so like you either go out and win as a team or lose as a team.
Yeah some guys may not perform as expected, or not give the full amount of effort they could, but everyone has their offdays, not just in the NBA either.  My point being i dont want to see people saying that its his fault they lost and stuff, may of been a factor, but then again so is everything else.

Looking back and taking into account everything that has been said the last month, I wonder if Rudy intentionally underperformed the way he did the last month or so of the season and especially in the playoffs as leverage or as an acting demand to get the Blazers to trade him in the off season. But it made him look worse and more difficult to trade!!

Well glad he wasn't booed today at least.

sigh... I meant the Bulls were MJ's team. The Cavs were Lebron's team. The Heat were Wade's team, but now it's most likely still wade's team in the worst case scenario for Lebron, in his best case scenario it is Wade's, Lebron's and Bosh's team now.
