If there was one thing I learned being a fan of the Blazers and participating in the chat, it's this phrase.  SMDH.  Means "Shake my damn head".  And I was certainly doing plenty of that tonight.

First, we can blame the officials.  I do for burying us in the first half.  LaMarcus Aldridge getting called for playing actual defense on one of the worst defenders in the league, but that is never an excuse for not letting the Blazers get back into this game and put the Knicks away, who left the door wide open and we shut it ourselves.

We all hear how nice this team is, how much they like each other, and how such good people they are.  Then I look at this... 8 assists?  Really?  A lot of that has to do with poor shooting, which I'll talk about later, but 8 assists?  That's either being too selfish or too selfless.  What it all comes down to is poor decision making.  8 assists will make a coach furious.  I wouldn't even allow that to go unpunished if I coached little league.  Ball movement, especially against a club that's awful at defense, is essential, and we failed miserably at it tonight.  That right there is almost as embarrassing as being a Cavs fan.

Now, honestly... I don't get why the ref didn't call 3 in the key when he counted to 5, which is why the paint looked so well defended.  But why the hell do we constantly settle for HORRIBLE 3 point shots?  I don't remember the last time the Blazers shot at least 40% from behind the arc.  We use to be a DEADLY 3 point shooting team, now we're laughable.  I honestly blame the goggles.  They're a bad influence to take bad shots.  We need to get rid of them.  The amount of times I facepalm because of a horrible 3 point shot/waste of possession is starting to hurt my head.  Why we tend to stop going to LaMarcus makes me sick.  We didn't even do it when we had a chance to beat the Heat.  If we beat the Heat, we beat the Knicks tonight.  Then we're tied 6th seed and are not stuck at 8th.  What do you know, poor shot selection gives us two straight loses.

I think we also learned Patty isn't the point guard we need, and with Miller looking like he doesn't give a crap anymore the Blazers need a trade.  I'm not one for screaming trade, but Andre's lack of performance has been bothersome, and Patty's sloppy play doesn't help either.  Patty is a great scoring point guard, but believe me, it's the Jerryd Bayless effect ALL OVER AGAIN.  Jerryd was AMAZING last season, but we needed someone to control the team.  Lately, neither of our point guards have really been able to do that.  It seems Camby has been the man to do that.

Now down to my main point.  It really bothers me that we're not over this little petty crap of losing one "heartbreaking" game and then we go on a losing streak against bad/mediocre teams because we're so emotional about a loss.  It's the freaking NBA.  Sure, beating the Heat would have been nice, but you move on and perform better the next game to forget about it all.  Losing tonights game and having just our one veteran step up shows how young this team is and how much lack of basketball IQ it has.  The only three players to really step up was Camby, Nico, and Rudy.  Sadly, Nico and Rudy aren't good enough to secure a win if they're the only two offensive players to step up.  I'm sure LMA would have had a good game had he not been forced out of the game by BS calls, but you get the picture.  It just shows how much we need to lean on Brandon Roy, and why all you haters that want to trade him are foolish.

All I'm trying to say is this petty crap in which we lose some stupid game and the going into the next game looking like idiots is getting annoying.  I would not be surprised if we lost to Phoenix, and they've been the worse team in the West as of late.  Only because our team is too immature to continue playing at the high level and keep moping about a stupid game.

You get 8 assists when you shoot 30%.
When you shoot 30%, you might end up with less assists, like 8.
If the team is missing their shots, and only wind up shooting about 30%, there's gonna be less assists handed out....like 8.

Fella's were just a little too content to stay outside and shoot jumpers, not enough heads down and barreling to the rack. But then again, 3 of our best guys at performing on drives to the paint, are not playing anymore:

    • Brandon is injured
    • Martell got traded for a kid that can't dribble
    • Bayless got traded for an empty bag of chips, 2 days before the season opener.
I am a fan of multiple All-Stars on the Blazers roster this season!

Matthews tries to be that guy who can get to the bucket, but i dunno, he just seems to lack the skill to do it well? He's not overly athletic and not silky skilled enough to finish consistently. He's forcing a lot of stuff right now when he plays far better within the offence.
Rudy occasionally can create stuff, but again it's not that consistent. They're certainly not unselfish players lol, well, maybe Matthews. Just a terrible game and hopefully they'll do better. Most of the other stuff I disagree with, seems like an angry fan.

The one I have learned over the years Herr is ssdy: same sh** different year.

One of these years hopefully they quit pg musical chairs along with waiting for Oden, and not stocking bigs.

The pg situation goes back much further than Bayless, remember Blake,Chacho, Jack and Telfair??
Lets just throw out names of players to trade for, and insult each other. That helps.
Then draft another rookie pg this summer, Nate loves them.....

    5th year is a charm ??

Last night was just bad. Not  one player is ever at fault for losing an entire game.

I'm jealous that you can say Patty isn't what we need without being attacked, maybe gender plays a role  :)

This season has been rough. I think it is time to trade Dre and Camby, as much as I hate to say it, while they still have some value.

First. Take responsibilities for you and your teams actions, because that is always the first step ion beating any addiction.
in this teams case the addiction to making excuses for losing.

Matthews has been great, but  he's showing now (if people don't already know) that he isn't a person you build around. He's a great role player who is great playing in schemes. What separates role players from all-stars is all-stars can play great even when the schemes breakdown. Defensively teams are more aware of Matthews and have adjusted, thus you see the results.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
