Both Mikes indicated that there will be changes, and as much as I LOVE this team, and am fond of almost everyone on it, I will say that before the playoffs I would not like to see ANY of them go. Then I watched the playoffs, and now am not so sure. Of course honestly I'd like to see everyone get better as opposed to leaving, but in some cases that's not going to happen. So my question to all you out there is, who goes? I mean who you all think is not coming back this year. Just curious to hear opinions....

Sergio Rodriguez finally goes as Bayless will develop this season. This will happen draft night. Outlaw will be checked on this season and I think will be gone by trade deadline.

Hopefully Martell is ready to start next season, so we won't need Travis. If they could keep both that would be great, but Travis would be a nice offer in a trade. Bayless still needs a couple years to be ready to run the point, and I think Sergio will only be a backup at best so they might as well shop him too. Hopefully Pritchard can work some more magic in this offseason and get a veteran point guard.

I think that the Blazers will no longer need the services of Mr. Travis Outlaw. This viewpoint was further reinforced by his abysmal performance in the post season. I speak for most of us when I say that we have enjoyed his stay here in Portland, and that we loved him as our sixth man. Unfortunately, with Martell's return, his position will be stacked, and he would likely see very restricted minutes. He would be part of a very attractive package deal to perhaps gain someone to help solidify our point guard spot.
Channing Frye better not be resigned, he is truly painful to watch.

I don't think this is a moronic post, particularly considering the season is officially over. Discussing potential offseason moves/losses? What's so wrong about that?

Personally, I know we'll likely be saying 'goodbye' to the Stud-Ruffin, Raef, and probably Shavlik (though I'd like to see him stick around and get more of a shot next year.) I'm still not 100% convinced that Sergio will be shipped out, though he's our most likely PG candidate to go and we'll have to make room if we do try to bring in a new PG. I am also not convinced that Travis is going anywhere either, though I agree he seems to have hit his ceiling. I think the folks down at 1 Center Court have been drinking the kool-aid on Travis for far too long and are in love with his steady stream of fall-away jumpers and losing himself in pressure-packed situations. To his credit though, it seems like Travis provides a lot in the locker room and is part of the spirit of this team, and that may add up to a lot all things considered.

Aside from those obvious choices, I would personally like to see Channing Frye go elsewhere. I know he's in love with Portland as a geographical location, but it doesn't seem as though he buys into the Portland culture as a team. When he's out there hard fouling and just jacking up jumpers, I have to wonder if he's more or less just pi**ing in Nate McMillan's face and not following any kind of instruction. It's very rare when I see Channing on the court and feel like he's putting in any effort at all to actually follow the game plan (quite the opposite, actually.)

I have a great idea. Let's pick up Houston's 23 million dollar contract for Tracy McGrady next season. Let's assume that T-Mac stays healthy for half of the games. So the Blazers would pay him $560,000 per regular season contest. I think that's a heck-uva deal right there. Especially if the deal comes with the Houston refs that let Yao and Artest throw people around. Imagine if Joel, Greg and Lamarcus had free reign to throw elbows while clearing out space in the paint. That'd be awesome!

Anyone not named Roy, Aldridge, and Oden can go. Outside of those three I would keep Bayless and hope we work on developing him a lot more next year.

Rudy and Batum are nearly untouchable in my eyes. Rudy played a heck of a playoff series for a rookie and Batum had a breakout season for someone that wasn't even on the radar for NBA play.

Yeah obviously if a blockbuster deal came then we might see them go but I doubt they will be moved out.

Sergio sounds like he is ready to move. I think if KP can pick up a really good point guard, then Steve would be back up and Sergio out. I think Outlaw will get another year at least, he deserves it. He had a great season. I still look at chemistry and Outlaw and Roy being best friends, I wouldn't change it right now. I think deep down inside, I know we do need to maybe make a trade or two, but I love them all.

It is truly painful to read some of these comments.. just.. Wow. Anyway i agree with some of you about sergio, i dont hate the guy or anything like that.. i just feel that bayless brings more to the table and is dying to prove himself. He brings a different dimension to the PG postion with his strength and athleticism and tough defense. As far as outlaw goes i think it would be real foolish to ship him off next season, he brings more to the table then everyone seems to wanna give him credit for. He played well in the regular season and was a big part of our bench scoring, i mean ya sure he takes a few bad shots here and there (other players do too) and he might miss a defensive play or two but again.. so do other ppl.
Honestly i hope they dont make any big changes and just work to improve what we have, all the rookies will improve this next year. Then add Webster in the mix and i think this team rises to a whole new level.
I think what people fail to understand is the fact that this is a very young team that is only going to get better with time, they just need to be given that time to grow and learn. The single worst thing that they could do is go trying to fix something thats not broken

I think people just ride on Outlaw because the has the athleticism to be amazing. Roy would be easily the best player in the league with Outlaws athletic abilities.

But unfortunatly he lacks a high basketball IQ and thus which hinders his game greatly. I agree he adds something to the team and would be hard to replace. If the proper trade came along though then I could see him going though.

Outlaw is a great 6th man with some consistency but definitely showed that he's not that guy. I think he's a good name to trade away since he's a freak in terms of physical attributes but lacks the rest.

or not. Neither one of those two is worth BOTH Blake and Outlaw. Not to mention Baron would be a bad attitude in the locker room.

Personally i wasnt super high on Blake before this season, he did his part but was mostly a passer and not a threat elsewhere. I think this season he really showed that ability to score while still bringing the other aspects aswell. Not to mention he has chemistry with this team and knows how to run it. My biggest concern is somehow trading for someone that has a bad attitude or messes up the flow and look of this team with on the court or off the court problems. What i like most about this team is that they are friends and have fun playing with each other

Ok, I feel it's time to edit this.

Bayless...We work on him, and OMG.... The speed of aaron brooks, the HEART of the blazers. And Yeah, I don't feel like we've seen all of Outlaw's game yet. He was HUGE in the regular season, no matter what we saw in the playoffs.

I mean, it was the PLAYOFFS for God's sake... we had no idea what to expect. Look for Rudy and Nicolas next year. And I hope we keep Sergio, he is so consistent. Sure he doesn't shoot much, but the assists....

Don't break it up KP, these guys are the future of this franchise.

I would miss Frye, and the others, but my lineup....

    Roy, LA, Webster, Pryzbilla, Bayless...

    Subs:
    Rudy, Batum, Outlaw, Oden, Blake

Not in that order but, you get it. just thought I'd mention it...

Anyhow, GO BLAZERS!!!!! The league hasn't seen anything yet!!!

I agree on principle, but I think your lineups are wrong. I think it will look like this

    Beginning of the season:
    Blake, Roy, Martel, LA, Przybilla
    Subs:
    Bayless, Rudy, Batum, Outlaw, Oden

By the end of the season:
    Bayless, Roy, Martel, LA, Oden
    Subs:
    Blake, Rudy, Batum, Outlaw, Przybilla

Extras: Joel Freeland, draftee, either Koponen or another draftee.
This team will get younger because Shavlik, Ruffin, and Raef will all be gone. They will get younger, but they will also get better.

This is assuming they don't sign a FA PG.
