Blazers proved last night that they in fact weren't contenders. They proved that they were a team that won a couple of games against some of the top teams and then couldn't beat the worst by far. Thats what the real contenders would do. I just think were back to square 1 with this team. I don't think those two wins against miami and the magic mean anything now that they were followed up by a lose like that. I might be being to harsh on the blazers but I really thought with those two wins this was going to be the start of something new? Comment?

Are the Lakers contenders? Because I can think of some BAD losses they've had this season. Don't get me wrong, we had this game and should have won and it was a terrible loss but it doesn't mean we're a bad team. It's the NBA, any team on any given night can beat any other team. We've beaten the team with the best record in the NBA this season, does that make the Spurs non contenders? It's one game, chill out.

WOW! Here is a little insight for you. Charlotte has are 27 and 38. There are 9 teams worse then them in the NBA. They have also beaten teams like LA, Miami, New Orleans, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Boston. But according to your logic, none of those teams are no contenders. Charlotte just got Stephen Jackson back from an injury. He is well known from around the NBA. If he gets hot...he DOES NOT miss. Simple as that. I think before this game we were also on a 8-0 road win spree. The more you win in a row the worse you start to play and the more you come out flat to lesser teams. It was only a matter of time.

Yeah. Everybody has some losses to lower teams. I mean... Lakers went out and blew a game against Cleveland. It happens.

Maintaining perspective can be a very difficult thing.  I find myself on both sides of this debate today.  For me, the loss by itself wasn't that big of a deal.  As has been said, "chill out" and "it happens".  Indeed.

What is of a much bigger concern, was the way in which the Charlotte game became a loss.  By far, this game was the worst for LaMarcus Aldridge since the Dallas game when everything seemed to change.  Without LA and the inside-out offense only possible with him playing at a high level, this Blazer team is not only not contenders...they may not even be playoff bound.  All eyes on LA tonight in Atlanta.  If he has regressed and doesn't come back?  Worst case scenario.

I also had an issue with the apparent collective mindset of the team going into Charlotte, that the game didn't matter.  The effort was clearly not there, and they flat out got beat.  The aggressors almost always end up with the victory.  That was NOT Portland.

I don't understand why we're not going to Aldridge and establishing him in the post these past two games like we have been the past two months... It's mind boggling.

    do you watch basketball games?
do you follow teams as the season goes on?
do you like being a quitter?

just because you lose a "gimme" game doesnt mean its the end of the world, Drama Queens, idk where you get TrailBlazers from......
Like idk if you know, but the clevland cavaliers had lost 22 games in a row and then they beat the lakers....so what does that mean?
does that mean since the blazers cant beat the lakers, the cavs now become better than the blazers? NO!!
just relax and next time you think you are going to freak out and turn all team suicidal, just take a deep breath and think of where Portland is ranked in the west.

Every great team loses to bad teams.  Anyone remember Denver getting blown out by like 40 points and allowing 140 against the Pacers?  It happens.

What I just don't get is why we play like an elite team against the elite teams and end up playing like the Cavs against the worse teams.  It's the Hawks for Christ's sake.  They are HORRIBLE.  I'm still confident the Blazers can win a series, but I'd much rather go against OKC than the freaking Mavs or Spurs... or Lakers.

Atlanta is far from horrible. They have a solid team with many scoring threats, and their defense is very good. As a matter of fact the East is harder then the West right now and they still have a better record then us. To say they are horrible its extremely bias.

Are Boston contenders? Are the Lakers contenders? Are the Knicks contenders? All three of these teams lost to the worst team in the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks have lost to them twice this season. Everyone has hot streaks and cold streaks, this just happens to be a cold streak for the Blazers.

Ethan if they can win a series convincingly when they're suppose to and at least win a game in the second round I won't consider them horrible.  Compared to the Blazers, they're pretty horrible,

That's a very good point. Why are they not establishing LA early, running the offense through him? And why was GW on the perimeter for most of the game last night? They took so many 3 point shots against the Hawks. The team shot 38% for the game? Live and die by the three pointer. Why did Nate make no adjustments? I can understand losing, but the effort hasn't been there the last two games. Doesn't this fall on coaching?

Are we contenders? Yes & no. After beating Miami, we showed we could hang with the elite in the League but then we stubbed our toes pretty hard the following two games which concerns me, esp. this time of the year. There is no way we should have lost to Charlotte, up 8 in the 3rd and they go 6 scoreless minutes, and to Atlanta without Al Horford. We can only hope the team learns from this and knows they need to play their game at their highest level, regardless of the opponent. Take a page out of Chip Kelly's book and approach the game as if you were playing a "faceless' opponent.

Well, the Atlanta team I watched last night is 38 and 28 for a .536 percentage. That's better than Portland. So, if the Hawks are horrible, what are the Blazers? I don't see the Blazers as horrible, just very inconsistant. And Portland got blew out of the Rose Garden against the Hawks, just like they did again last night in the Hawks arena. The Hawks didn't even have their big man and still killed us on the boards. Actually, they killed us in every phase of the game, again!! And Atlanta didn't play well. Oh well, should we really be surprised? You never know which team will show up when it comes to Portland.

Which 1 game are you talking about, the Bobcats or the Hawks? Bottom line, Portland is very inconsistant. The real good teams give effort night in and out. Portland doesn't. They lose too much at home, and against bad teams. Look at Portland's good teams of the past and compare them to this team. You quickly see there is no comparison. Those teams played hard night in and out. Sure, they stumbled, even laid an egg or two once in awhile, but for the most part played consistent, unlike this team. We have seen this the last couple of seasons and it isn't changing. WHY?

It's not about getting beat as much as it is about giving effort. I didn't see much effort against the Bobcats or Hawks. Sloppy passing, lack of defense, and poor shooting all spell defeat. As a fan I have seen this too much the last couple of seasons. Portland gets up for the good teams, and chills out against the weaker teams. This is a pattern that needs to change if they are to get past the first round. I believe they can and I would bet coach Mac. had a very long and critical talk with the team after the last two road losses.
