Preview: Portland Rolls Into Matchup With Warriors
The Trail Blazers and Warriors have met twice this season, with each team coming up victorious on their home floors. After Portland escaped with a 96-95 win in the Rose Garden on Dec. 18, Golden State returned the favor a week later, downing the Trail Blazers 109-102 on Christmas Day.

Portland continued their home dominance with a convincing 104-96 win over Dallas Sunday night, running their Rose Garden win streak up to 8. While Golden State is deadly at home, their road record (9-30) leaves a lot to be desired. And the Trail Blazers must make sure to leave an impression on the Warriors Tuesday night, because the two teams will match up in the Bay just 8 days later on the last day of the regular season. Also, Portland should have no trouble getting up for this matchup as a win clinches a spot in the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

Although the Warriors are no longer coached by Don Nelson, they still can pile on the points and average a 7th best, 103 points per game. But where the Trail Blazers can take advantage of the Warriors is on the defensive end of the floor, an area of the game Golden State still has mastered, as they allow over 106 points, the second most in the NBA. It will be important to fast break on this team, but to be sure to keep the tempo, overall, in our favor. If we get into a 3-point shootout, run-n-gun, type of game, it could get too close for comfort. Although Aldridge has a good height advantage over the Warrior bigs, we all saw last night how our guards can dictate a game when they have a height advantage in the post. Look for Andre Miller and Brandon Roy to have a field day in the post against the likes of Steph Curry & Monte Ellis.

I just can't envision any scenario where we don't destroy the Warriors tomorrow night *knocks on wood*. They have nothing to play for and are a small team in size. If we just focus on posting up Aldridge instead of hoisting up as many 3's as Golden State, we should win by 10+. I think the key stat will be points in the point. If we can score 40+ in the paint, I think we'll be good.

Warriors are a tough group.  I don't think anybody goes into a game against them thinking it'll be a breeze.  It's a trap game in the sense that Portland SHOULD win, but considering who GSW has been beating lately and where Portland is in the standings I don't think Blazers will slip it into cruise control.  I fully expect to see Portland firing on all cylinders.  My only question, same as every night, is will the shots be falling?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mike Rice stated today on the Chalk Talk that Golden State allows 46 points in the paint! We need to camp out in the painted area all night until they yell out "Uncle!"

Remember, the last two times we played them we didn't have Crash! If we play like we did against Dallas (meaning a solid game from start to finish) we handle the Warriors easily.

    peace out,

All I can say it better be the Blazers that showed up for the Maverick game and not the Blazers that showed up for the last Spurs game. We dont need to go thinking this is an easy-cheesy game. They may not have anything to play for and that is what makes them so dangerous. Lets win one game at a time and focus on that one game. I dont care if we are playing the Senior center if the team is on the schedule than knock grandma down and play like it matters.

THANK YOU!  All I have heard and read today is and has been ignorance.  Unbelievable to me that ANYONE could overlook this Warrior team, or even call this a trap game.  A trap game, by definition I thought, was a game in which you should win (on paper) but then, due to circumstance struggle with or even lose.  This Golden State team is anything but, for the Blazers.  For the last several years, no matter the records of either team, GS has seemingly had Portland's number.  Portland's one victory of the two games this season, came at home and was by the huge margin of ONE point.  Really?!  Give Ellis and co. some cred.  They play Portland tough every time the two meet.  The one thing different from tonights contest from that of the two previous is #3.  Hopefully, that will be enough.

A Blazer loss tonight coupled with a NO win at home tomorrow night over visiting Houston would drop Portland to 7th, with a tougher schedule in front of them than the Hornets.  This is a HUGE game, unless ofcourse, you are hoping for the Lakers in the first round.

Got to listen to about 2 quarters part of the 2nd and the fantastic showing in the 3rd. Glad I never got to finish the game. I think we were trying to see how many 3's we could miss instead of playing basketball. I will give it too the Warriors though just about everything they threw up went in. I would write more but I am just plain disgusted.

It's sad that we let their 3 best players all go off 28,29,30 sounds like a great night for the Miami Heat not the 33-44 lowly Golden State "royals". ROLL ON BLAZERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a joke! You're telling me we can beat the Spurs, Thunder & Mavs at home, but get blown out by the Warriors?! This team is maddening. Why must they always play the opponent instead of jut playing themselves. an we have Chip Kelly come in and motivate this team? He always preaches about playing "faceless opponents" and only worrying about yourself, that way you don't get too high and you don't get too low.

Also, please quit using Brandon Roy in isolation situations. He has ZERO explosiveness left (as seen by his blocked dunk). I still like B, don't get me wrong, but we are just not using him correctly. Play him off the ball, run him off curls, and let him post up smaller guards (like we did to Dallas).

Finally, I still love this team. I ride with them and I die with them, but these letdown games need to stop. We could have just cost ourselves a date with the Mavs in the process and could be looking instead at meeting up with the Lakers.

well I knew somthing was in the air when HOU and MEM lost and to cap off my point Utah beats LA in LA,
But Ellis was in a zone, curry bank in three in the third and when Lou Amundson A 37% freethrow shooter hits a pair you know it's one of those nights so give GSW credit they came to play. We died by the three and didn't attack the basket and our D was not there you just hope that this game didn't cost us the sixth seed.

    that was a disapointing loss
it could have been worse if memphis and houston won
i thought we could have won this game if we drive to the basket and stop shooting 3s
