I'm thinking about what the Blazers will do come a month from now. There's chatter that because of the uncertainty the summer brings, Cho may be more aggressive in his draft-pick moves (which there likely will be) or atleast make them sooner rather than later. What are your thoughts on draft decisions? Below is the current order of the top 14:

    1. Cleveland

    2. Minnesota

    3. Utah

    4. Cleveland

    5. Toronto

    6. Washington

    7. Sacramento

    8. Detroit

    9. Charlotte

    10. Milwaukee

    11. Golden State

    12. Utah

    13. Phoenix

    14. Houston

Are there any teams here that would want a Blazers bench player (Mills, Fernandez, ect.) in exchange for a draft pick? Is it worth doing? How far would Rich Cho try to move up if he really wants a solid backup PG this next season?

I love Batum but for the time being i say we need to cash him in for max returns trade him for the Clevelands 4th pick and pick Kemba Walker before Toronto and Sacremento hav a chance.  We need that dynamic lead guard that can dictate tempo.

Then trade rudy fernandez and our second round pick to the knicks for their 1st round pick and pick Kenneth Faired a player that would be a great compliment to Kemba the way Oriaki and Uconn was not really a low post threat but his activity level, aggressiveness, and  adeptness at the garbage man role would further infuse the team with heart grit and determination the way Gerald Wallace does.

And with our 1st round pick choose Marshon Brooks at 6'6 with a 7'3 wingspan and the ability to create his own shot he can be instant offense, a legit 3pt threat, and with dedication could be bothersome defender due to his length. resembles kobe in certin nuances of his game.

Kemba is right now wat patty could be if he reached his ceiling as a prospect already and then more. He's just as quick, more crafty, more moves, better pull-up off the dribble, better decision maker, has a wicked stepback that already rivals our own B Roy's. Carried a team full of freshman to a national title after being a predominant role player at uconn. Kid has the intagibles to lead. Has the ability to play alongside Roy due to his shooting and ability to get his own shot while creating for others. Can really do damage as he improves his midrange via the pick and roll.

Faired will be better suited to come off bench and be the anchor of the second unit on defense.

Marshon can allow us to run small and be effective with his 7'3 wingspan he can guard 2's and 3's on occasion.

    answering questions with ..... questions?

Does this franchise drink heavily when making draft choices?

Why trade for someone who has yet to exist in the NBA, for someone who may be injured, may be  a huge bust?

With portlands history of horrible draft luck, is sacrificing a decent player for one that might not be worth it?

I think if we want to cash in on Batum for his maximum value, the draft is the wrong way to do it. I think trading with another team for a player we already know to be solid and who will fit a need we have would be much better.

staying at 21 will give Portland an opportunity to draft "Bebe"! Lucas Nogueira is his real name. Google his real name because Bebe brings up something different. Hes from Brazil and is 7'0" and is athletic. I personally want him in Portland.

There isn't enough superstar talent worth trading up for. The blazers simply need to adress their needs and let the pieces fall to them. The best availible player that fits our biggest need should be the blazers move. Not woth giving up a lot for a small return.

From his NBADraft.Net profile, doesn't sound promising-

Weaknesses: The big knock against Lucas "Bebe" is that he is lazy ... Sources around the team claim that he is a little bit difficult to deal with and already has a star's attitude ... Nothing can derail a promising career faster than a kid not willing to put the work in, so for Lucas, keeping his head on straight, continuing to work hard and focusing on his development is crucial if he's going to realize his vast potential ... Must continue to develop his upper body and overall strength ... Still extremely skinny. 200 lbs. Must bulk up, but shows wiry strength and should be able to add weight successfully without diminishing his agility ... Needs to keep developing his offensive game, prove himself against a high level of competition ...
It should also be mentioned that he has 3 years left on his deal with his international team. I don't know the specifics or the out-clauses, but 3 years is still 3 years.

I watched Lucas Nogueira at the USA vs. the World game here a couple of months ago. I was excited to watch him play because I knew he was a draft prospect. That weakness is right on point. He was very lazy and was blocked by Biyombo about 3 times (Biyombo had about 14 blocks). I would like to see either Kemba Walker, Alec Burks, or Markieff Morris. Morris would be a could fit behind Aldridge in the lineup.

Oh ya, we moved way up in the draft last year after trading Martell Webster for Ryan Gomes, then landed ourselves Minnesota's #12 pick, the Reno Wonderboy Luke Babbitt.

except batum is better than Walker.
and Walker is going to get worked in the NBA.
    And walker has no experience.
    And ellis does have experience.
and ellis gives you 20pts a game.
and Walker just gives you........false hopes....
if anything trade batum for ellis, but i think this team can get more than that from Batum, had he been a more important figure this past season.
    so maybe.....

As good as it was getting GW, Nic Batum's trade value has dropped dramatically. Now teams know they can give up less for him because he has become a bench player. Batum had far greater trade value at the deadline than he will this offseason

Ya I like Faried.  We will probably need to trade one of our other bigs if we get him though so that he can get some playing time (assuming that we keep Oden and that he finally manages to stay healthy).  If we dont end up getting him though we should try to get a younger pg, it was obvious in the Dallas series that we need a quicker and younger point gaurd than miller.  The problem is there arent a lot of good pg's in the draft.  Still, I think we might even be able to get Faried or markief morris and a better young pg in the draft if we are lucky.  We could maybe trade up a little bit to get Faried or Markief Morris and than in the second round there are a couple potentially pretty good pg's.  If we dont want to trade up to get a second first rounder than we could draft Demetri Mccamey or Nolan Smith with our second round pick.  Either one of those two pg's could be a steal for us.
I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

Yes now this is the kind of trade that would be great we could keep chris johnson at center till Oden returns or heck even after just for insurance, than put kenneth at PF and give him playing time!  Even if he is rough to start out we got to give our young guys a chance, he is a great compliment to LA and could be a real nice post defender off the bench which is something we have missed.  I think that our backup center spot of PF spot will be the linchpin for the 2 separate units idea that the blazers are trying to achieve.  The other option is to wait and see where he lands and try to trade for him although that might end up being more costly.

    #2- Minnesota
They are supposedly shopping their pick but I don't think we have enough ammunition to get it done

    #8 Detroit
They would most likely swap picks if someone were to take a bad contract (Hamilton, Gordoron) off of their hands. But with the new CBA in limbo, it's a risky move but probably the best bet to move up high into the lottery this year.

    #13 Phoenix
Rumors have it they have yet to assign draft workouts and the Suns are notorious for either selling their picks or not utilizing them to the fullest potential. 13 could probably secure a player like Jimmer or Faried or someone who has fell for an unexplained reason.

Those are the 3 teams who I think will eventually move down in the draft.
