Trail Blazers (1-1) At Rockets (2-0)

    What To Watch For

    Backcourt Battle
In their win over Detroit, the new Houston backcourt of Jeremy Lin and James Harden went off, combining for 49 points, 20 assists, and 10 rebounds. On the flip side, the Trail Blazers' backcourt tandem of Damian Lillard and Wesley Matthews combined for 45 points, 13 assists and 5 rebounds of their own. This game will come down to which backcourt gets it going early and often because they are the straws that stirs each of their respective team's drinks. Both Lillard and Lin have been prone to turnovers in their brief NBA careers, so it could come down to whichever floor general takes care of the ball the best.

    Fresh Legs
Both teams play on the road tonight as Houston is in Atlanta and Portland is in OKC, so neither team has an advantage on that front. Coach Stotts kept his rotation to just nine players in the Opening Night win over Los Angeles, but something tells me we will see more of a rotation as the season goes along, especially on second nights of a back-to-back. Both teams are pretty similar in terms of talent and I suspect this one will be another winner take all in the fourth quarter, so whichever bench is able to spell their starters best through the first 36 minutes, that squad should have enough gas left in their tanks to get the W. Here's hoping it's the visitors!

I think we have an advantage in the frontcourt too. Now that Scola is gone, we should be able to handle them in the post. Scola used to play beastlike against us. Keep in mind that Houston was in fact down 9 before Harden went off. I dont think that happens with us. We have a lot more offensive weapons than Detroit does. Im looking forward to a shootout against Houston. I think Damian will outplay Lin. I also think JJ outplays Asik. I think we should take a look at Eddie Curry. Stotts might be able to work with him. As well as the big man coach thats working with Meyers. Hughes i think his name is. He is an offensively skilled big that i think given the opportunity in the right situation might be a good fit.

Harden off the leash, guess we'll find out what happens. Matthews and Batum need to stick to him like glue.

I think Wesley can handle Harden on his own. He's a lefty with no weaknesses on his drives to either side of the basket. Its going to be about forcing him right that will help us contain him.

Batum needs to step up and have a big game and the bench needs to contribute. I know it's only been 2 games, but its a trend that needs to stop. Can't say enough about Damian, great 2 games.

We should win this game. We are a better team than them. I think Wes, Sasha, Batum will slow down Harden. Other than him there is no threat on the team. Dame should outplay Lin. I will be disappointed  if we lose

This will not be an easy game.  The Houston fans will be jacked.  They just beat a solid Atlanta team on the road.  Harden is bound to prove that his ppg avg of !!!<<<41>>>!!! so far is no fluke.  And Lin has a chip too, 17 and 8 to per game so far.  They are similar to us.  Young team with an all star caliber guy and a lot to prove.  Asik has 14 RPG so far.  Hopefully our team is not overlooking these guys and keeps their guard up.

Batum...c'mon man!  We want to believe...

Is Price going to play?? Kind of bored of watching Nolan get trapped and letting someone else create their own offence.

I only know one thing. Lillard didn't come from Weber State; he came from his night job. Cuz that kid is a straight up pimp.

There should be a law against Lillard, he's too awesome to be a rookie.

Great game. Real resurrection in 2nd half. Keeping hot Rockets @85pts (including OT) at home is really worth mentioning. All starters stepped up (JJ looks uncertain sometimes ) when it came to and provided nice offensive balance. Will & Meyers weren't bad tonight either but again.....Nolan .... looked lost and our worst moments of the season are those while Smith is on the court. Loved Nic's versality, Wes tough & relentless D , LA's  leadership ,  and Damian clutch attitude. Good game

Get well soon Price because the new aggressive Nolan has been non existence, he playing like old Nolan scared and timid he need to take note from Lillard because the boy had Ice in his veins when he hit those threes this man is making history everyday and also great bounce back game from Nic he did more than just score I feel this game he had was more impressive that the one he had opening night and what can you say about Hickson and Matthews they have be grfeat for us so far Hickson was a beast on the broads and Matthews containing the Bearded one love it, Oh can forget Meyers and Barton they also played very well.

Lets spoil another home opener in Dallas!

I was happy with what I saw from Will Barton. We've been talking about a spark off the bench. He and Sasha could do some damage in a second unit.

Luke Babbitt.... he does one thing well, except he never actually does it. How many times did he catch the ball with good space between him and the defender? 1,000? That's what I thought. How many shots did he take? -2? Is that even possible. With Luke it is. If you're a shooter, you've gotta know exactly where the defender is when you catch the ball. If he's tight on you, give it up; if he's sagging, let her fly. A shooter that doesn't shoot is a waste of space.

A very different team in the second half. Nolan looks lost out there though so far and the bench needs to be more productive...but overall, fantastic 3rd quarter defense and a very nice finish by LA and our "little giant" (DLill) ~ very proud of this first road win!!!

Scrappy road win! Starters played great 2nd half. I don't know how Leonard can log that many minutes and only get 2 rebounds though! Barton screwed up a play but showed he might have an NBA game. Defense in the 2nd half was really good! Batum had 6 steals which is incredible and a few blocks. To get an overtime win on the road like this with virtually no bench production was amazing. Wes was really defending well. Lillard man, 3 first NBA games over quality pt guards and getting the numbers he's getting as well as playing better when the game is on the line. LaMarcus has had back to back great rebounding games and was the game winner. On to Dallas and hopefully the next road win!

Side note. There's no point in bringing JJ off the bench. He produces more with each minute he gets, and that's why you give a guy a starting role. 6th man is for someone who puts up the same numbers in 24 minutes that he would in 35.

I really like JJ and I hope he signs a longer contract before next year.

Babbitt has the potential to be a decent role player if he had more confidence in his shooting, he's too shy. other than that he needs to improve his handles off the dribble. you can tell as soon as the ball hits the floor he's looking to pass, that and not to be a liability on defense, but improving those things isn't unrealistic. either he improves or he doesn't, only time will tell.

JJ needs a new contract asap. wasn't the deadline for an extension on halloween? i'm almost positive he won't be so cheap next summer.

I'll say it again, Luke and Nolan need to be the benches heating pads now..luke is to slow to guard a 3 and too weak to guard a 4. Nolan can't pass and can't shoot. Time to throw Barton and Claver into the fire or Sasha and Freeland. We need Price at 100% like yesterday!
