I would take a chance on him. I dont know how we would actually get him tho, unless we offer a Max Deal... Which I would be ok with

I think he takes too many jumper tho, A lot of potential tho

I think he just needs the right coach. Honestly, I don't know if Coach Stotts is the best for him. He needs Pop, or a Drill Instructor.

I like the idea of getting cousins, but how much are the kings expecting for him? Maybe blazers could offer batum, freeland, and maybe 2 of our 2nd rounders for him. And we could try pursuing igoudala over the summer. Kings might consider this cause they are thinking of amnestying salmons, and none of their sf even average 10 pts, batum was averaging alittle over 17 before his wrist injury. And freeland has shown potential, but hasnt gotten the mins, maybe playing more mins in sac will help him gain experience faster, and he might even get the chance to start in sac without cousins there. If we did this our roster would be like this...

    Pg lillard/backup

    Sg matthews/Backup/barton

    Sf igoudala/claver

    Pf LA/backup

    C cousins/leonard

Since igoudala makes about as much as batum, and cousins is making close to 5 mill, that takes 5 mill of our 13-15 mill cap space. We would have 10 mill left to sign guys like tony allen (for defense and a backup sg, made 3.3mill this yr) and jermaine oneal (cheap, backup for LA, made 1.4mill this yr) and to resign maynor (2.5-3.5mill to resign).

This means that wed have to give up batum though, and idk if niel olshey is willing to do that.

    DeMarcus Cousins   F/C  6'11"   Age: 22   2 Years  Sal: $3,880,800

It might in fact do DeMarcus some good to have a coach that stands eye level with him. Plus, I always liked the sound of LaMarcus to DeMarcus for the LOB !!!!!! Or vice/versa. The Marcus Brothers !

Seriously, I think the kid can make strides under Stotts. He'd have to agree to go to counceling, but id take a chance on him. Take a look at this....

DeAndre Jordan is looking like a complete bust in the playoffs. Cousins is a rare young talent but will need serious guidance to stay on the court and become a team player. The Kings are going to blow it up completely and Cousins has contributed to getting two coaches fired. JJ Hickson said the kid is not as volatile as people think in the lockerroom. Talent wise I like him better than most of the young centers in the league and he's not expensive. It's a gamble but may be a gamble worth taking. After watching the Clippers I'm not at all impressed with Jordan in the post. JJ Hickson is a better 5 than Jordan.

@siccolo, he's not getting anywhere near a max deal this upcoming season. 3.88 mil a year is way under a max deal. That's slightly more than we're paying Freeland or Babbit.

plus I think this team could use some attitude and aggression out there on the inside cause right now were super soft now bring in o'neal  to come in behind him and to mentor him and possibly keep his attitude problem in check and I think it maybe could work out

Youtube video 'unavailbale'. Another link? I like The Marcus Brothers. I myself like to shout out LaMARC GASOLdridge whenever Gasol does something pretty in the post. Not often, it's mostly weirdly effective hooks and jumpers out of lack of people to pass to. He doesn't even actually have a jumper. He has a free throw. Seriously, it goes jump shot, set shot, Marc Gasol.

i would do this in a heartbeat , that kid is gonna be really good . but i think it would take one of our core pieces to get him id trade batum and our 10th pick for him . it would free up some cap space to get a good small forward . him and LA would be a nice one two punch downlow . and it would also leave us more money to resign maynor and bring in some bench players.

I have always like Cousins but the dude needs leadership around him. Matthews is our most vocal locker room leader, which makes me believe that with this current roster he would continue to act out. He also needs a good big man coach to work with him cause his turnovers and defense are pretty bad.

I always said this about Cousins is that the only thing stopping him for becoming the best center in the game is himself if he had the right coach and players around him who can keep him focus he can be a force in this league if we can get O'Neil like common said and a tough big man coach like meese mentioned who can keep him accountable I see him being a success here. If you have a chance to get a talent like him you go for it I think a change of scenery will do him some good.

Cousins is a very good player that has the potential to b a HOF; however... IF he had the right coach (Sloan is god & Pop rules BUT ONLY Phil Jackson could max out the Cuz), that would give him the best shot @ realizing that potential; w/o that coach... STRONGLY doubt he'll get there (not impossible but astronomically minute chance to reach being in HOF ;)  Cousins is the ONLY headcase worth gambling on 2day bc he's cheap right now (2day, no way do a deal where Nico, LMA, Dame, Wes r involved) for 2yrs; yrs L8r after dude gets paid... too much $/risk then & I say no (unless he REALLY proves genuine maturity & love for P-Town).

I have been figuring out my own deal to land Cousins in Portland. There is the issue with getting Toney Douglas and Hickson to agree to a sign and trade, but they would both go to a good team so I don't see that being a problem.

**Three team trade involving Portland, Sacramento, and Boston**

Portland would receive-- D. Cousins, and A. Bradley

Sacramento would receive-- J. Terry, J. Freeland (or Leonard if neccessary), and POR 1st Rnd Pick

Boston-- J. Hickson, T. Douglas, and 1 or 2 of our 2nd Rnd Picks

This trade gives each team a little something to grow with and refresh their teams

    Portland's line up:

    PG- Lillard 3.2m , Bradley 2.5m

    SG- Matthews 6.8m, Barton 788k

    SF- Batum 11.2m, Claver 1.3m

    PF- Aldridge 14.6m

    C- Cousins 4.9m, Leonard 2.2m

    +++ 2nd round pick roughly 473k

=roughly 48 million dollars in salary

+++ we would have roughly 10m in cap space still to add at least 2 free agents, but most likely more. Giving a little more depth to the bench

Free agents that we have a chance at getting////ones I actually want

    * Guards/Scorers-- Kyle Korver, O.J. Mayo, Jose Calderon, Jarret Jack, Jodie Meeks, J.J. Redick, Kevin Marin, Nick Young, **Eric Maynor**, Mo WIlliams, Leandro Barbosa

    * Defensive guys-- Matt Barnes, Tony Allen, Andrei Kirilenko, Kwame Brown, DeMarre Carroll

    * Centers/Bigs-- Zaza Pachulia, Chris Wilcox, Maurice Speights, Ronny Turiaf, Samuel Dalembert, Lou Amundson, Kenyon Martin, Jermaine O'Neal, Dejaun Blair, Tiago Splitter

I know that all of this is wishful thinking and just me pretending to be a GM, but this would transform our team into a young talented squad with the ability to grow even better. We would have more talent at PG than most teams, have good 2 way players at the wings. As well as some size in the paint to give teams issues on both ends as well. The biggest part would be who we pick up in FA. That would help really define us as a team.

Who do you want us to bring in from FA to compliment this squad?

I would like to try and bring in Maurice Speights est. 4.8m, Tony Allen est. 3.5m, and Matt Barnes est. 1.5m

I was gonna say that would be a dream come true, I love Avery but so does Boston. I'd obviously still do that trade without getting Avery so maybe just add a worse player to our side, but I think Sacramento would need more. And without Avery we should sign Eric Maynor, Tony Allen, and also Jermaine O'neil. (Maybe Kyle Korver)

You realize this is the same Sacramento team that waived JJ Hickson, fired a couple of coaches and loaded up the team with pt guards as well as straddling two cities going into next season? They've had problems with Cousins since he's arrived. If there were any team in the league you could talk a good player out of, it's the Kings

Now what would be wrong with getting Bradley and Allen?? In my scenario you can. I love both players. I figured Hickson is our biggest trading chip followed by our 1st round pick. I wanted Cousins, but I doubted he would agree to a sign and trade to Sacramento when they pretty much said deuces to him. I would love Shumpert, but he is still under contract, and I doubt the Knicks who are in the playoffs, will want to part ways with a cheap, young, and talented player with still a lot of upside. I would love this 2014 Blazer team

    PG Lilard, Bradley

    SG Allen, Matthews, Barton

    SF Batum, Barnes, Claver

    PF Aldridge, Speights

    C Cousins, Leonard

He also needs a real coach or at least a locker room leader we do not have that. Stotts is a fine offensive coordinator but he does not command the respect it will take to snap Cousins out of his selfish style. LA is not a vocal leader and Matthews being the fourth best player on the team hardly seems in position to boss Cousins around.
